The Huawei Pura X has combined innovative technology with top-tier hardware components, creating a smartphone that leverages DeepSeek AI. It is the company’s first official native HarmonyOS device with a built-in virtual assistant powered by DeepSeek AI. On Thursday, Huawei introduced a new foldable smartphone called the Pura X.
It performs more like a mini foldable tablet than a smartphone, and features an unexpectedly larger display to make reading, video watching, and gaming experiences easier to use. Huawei claims the foldable has several ‘firsts.’ It is the first device to come with stable HarmonyOS NEXT pre-installed. The Pura X is also the first device to run DeepSeek AI, in a form of innovation. It incorporates DeepSeek AI in the form of a Celia virtual assistant. Richard Yu – Chairman of Huawei Consumer Business, claims that Huawei’s AI assistant is smarter than ever due to the integration of DeepSeek and HarmonyOS.
Richard Yu stated: “We’ve trained our AI assistant for millions of hours based on our large language models and put that intelligence on the device for the first time to act like a real human that can naturally interact with varying emotions, and to detect users’ moods.”
Huawei has introduced the improved version of Celia Assistant thanks to its own Pangu and the DeepSeek AI model, from China, both technologies build a solid base towards AI capability and allow the device to understand the user much better. The company uses DeepSeek’s R1 AI model, which is working on the Ascend 910C platform. The artificial intelligence model R1 is better than its competitors in several aspects.
Huawei plans to counter US limits on foreign products with its own technologies and solutions. Following the release of smartphones, the company will launch the HarmonyOS software system for notebooks and DeepSeek AI assistant.
