Intangible, now backed by $4 million in seed funding, offers a generative AI-based creative tool for everyone looking to create 3D world concepts from text prompts, helping creative professionals in different fields. It aims to empower both professionals–filmmakers, game designers, event planners, marketing agencies–and regular users trying to illustrate creative concepts. For example, these users could use the platform to develop a design for their house or small art projects. The company now intends to launch its no-code web-based 3D studio in June, also claiming that it has raised additional funding. Charles Migos; the ex-lead designer of Apple’s first-party iPad apps (iBooks, Notes, and News) and the vice president of product design at Unity. The co-founder, Bharat Vasan, is the entrepreneur who co-founded Basis, a wearables firm that was acquired by Intel. Migos, while working at Unity, envisioned what it is all about. He wanted to build a tool for all creatives, with the backbone being the generative AI technology.
“The Unity Editor is an incredible tool, but the actual people making the creative decisions aren’t using that tool,” Migos told TechCrunch. “With the advent of AI, I realized that it was going to be entirely possible to make 3D accessible to people who can’t now, and package that in a way where generative AI and 3D creation tools were designed for professional creatives,” he added. Intangible’s product is much like selling a key to unlock the 3D world without really having to take a MAP course to understand how the codes work in complexity. That is, by providing prompts, AI can build a full-fledged 3D world from beginning to end, designing that city or landscape from scratch.
Starting with a 3D canvas editor, users can easily drag and drop elements from an entire library of around 6,000 3D assets, from people in various poses to trees, roads, vehicles, and so on. Filmmakers can move the camera angles and arrange the scenes using the storyboard capabilities. After the initial design phase, the AI image generation step vividly render the scene in the 3D Web Editor through “Visualizer mode.” Some elements that master Intangible are DeepSeek, Llama, Stable Diffusion, and many more. Further, Intangible does collaboration. Teams can share links to their web-based projects to work together in real-time, able to collect feedback and make adjustments on the float.
Intangible is operating under closed beta and permits interested users to sign up for early access. The startup boasts interest from hundreds of creatives, including major film and gaming studios. Specific names will be revealed later, the startup says. The official launch in June will begin with a free tier and monthly subscription options ranging from $15 to $50. Users will also be able to buy additional credits for image and video generation. Led by a16z Speedrun, Crosslink Capital, and some angel investors, this funding round is aimed at product development and hiring. The team now numbers 10, including Philip Metschan, lead product designer, who worked at Pixar and ILM. Intangible is planning to double its team this year.
Intangible is unique in that it erases traditional barriers that come with 3D creation. Add hours and hours of learning a complex design software, and now users will be generating professional-level 3D environments in a matter of minutes using Intangible. The integration of AI-powered automation enables creatives to concentrate on storytelling, design, and artistic expression instead of technical details. Empowered by combining the power of generative AI with a simple no-code platform, Intangible enables professionals and everyday users to tap into new creative possibilities in 3D world-building. With the June launch in sight, this tool is looking to change industries and establish a new normal in digital space visualization.
